In the frame of the EULARINET project, the Work Package of “Analysis, Monitoring and Review” intends to monitor the progress of the bi-regional cooperation in S&T led in the frame of bilateral cooperation schemes as well as European Commission’s programmes. In particular, the Task 1.2 “Evaluation of biregional cooperation”, which is led by IRD, intends to evaluate the intensity of scientific cooperation between the two regions in the light of appropriate indicators of S&T.

IRD intends to appeal to a specialised observatory to deliver a set of indicators covering the effects of such bi-regional cooperation. Those indicators should be sturdy and comparable since they are expected to be repeated in the future. In addition, it is critical to ensure the international recognition of this set of indicators and its acceptance by scientific communities and policy-makers from both regions.  

In the frame of EULARINET the second set of indicators that will be produced will be based on a concerted consultation between the three observatories that are internationally recognised for their capacities to produce indicators in LA. The workshop held in Rio on the 18th of July will serve to collect the propositions for indicators of international cooperation in S&T produced by IEDCYT, OST and RICYT and it will promote a dialogue between those observatories, with the hope to reach a consensus on a pertinent set of indicators.
